With our 4th day in the book, I have learned a lot about myself and Ireland. I knew of some of the challenges of living in a different country, but have come across some more. The biggest transition for me is how independent you have to be throughout the week, and the responsibilities that come with that. I have never worked a 9-5 job, so that was something different, staying in the office for that long. Another main takeaway I have is the use of public transportation. I live in a smaller town in Florida, so I do not have much experience with using public transportation to get around. I also have never been this far away from home for this extended amount of time, so that will definitely be a challenge. With all of this being said, I am very excited to be here and can’t wait for what these next 8 weeks have in store.

I am honestly not too sure what this building is, but thought it had really cool architecture, and wanted to get a picture. My two roomates and I were on our way to get some food before we went to the EPIC Museum, when we saw this building. One thing that I have noticed around the city are these random buildings that seem to be out of use.
I am writing this post on Tuesday night, after my first day of work at JW Accountants. I was very nervous walking into the building, but as the day went on, I began to feel more and more comfortable within the working environment. Throughout the day, I was looking at Banking files, and sorting through them using an excel spreadsheet. I was using a dual monitor, one with the spreadsheet, and the other with important information about the bank. Another bright side of the company, is they had a pet Husky, which was quite comfortable. I was also a little worried about my attire, but I was the most dressed person in the office.

Another takeaway that I have gotten is how laid back the office operates and how the offices look. From the offices that I have been in, you could tell where you were and the people seemed to be more upbeat and serious, in a way. From my first day, my coworkers seemed to be much more laid back and more stress-free. The office was also very surprising to me, as it kind of just looked like a regular townhouse. Inside the office, it looked like a home with a couple bathrooms, a kitchen, and even a living/ hang out room. From what I can tell, the way of life in Ireland is a lot different than that in America.

Like I talked above, the use of public transportation is very new to me, and is going to take some time to get used to. I was a little worried getting to my first day of work, but I made my bus on time, and made it to work on time. The public transportation in Dublin feels very safe and efficient, which is very comforting for tourist and visitors. I also recently applied of the adult leap card, as I will be taking the bus almost every day for the next 8 weeks.

I have also enjoyed walking around the town, exploring what Dublin has to offer. I am happy we are here for the time we are, because Dublin has so much to offer, and with cool surrounding areas and attractions. One of cool areas that we have walked by is Temple Bar Neighborhood, with lights illuminating the streets and people crowding the streets. When walking around the city, you just take everything in, verse driving in a car. I have loved seeing what Dublin has to offer, and am so excited for the next 7 weeks.
