My first Monday in Dublin was a “Bank” holiday, which I learned means a national public holiday where everyone gets a day off from work. After our ANOP class, our group visited the EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum, and learned about Ireland’s unique history and culture. Here, I also learned the Gaelic word for Ireland is “Erin.” After the EPIC tour, a few girlfriends and I walked to see the infamous portal that’s been all over social media. After the portal, we continued to walk around the city, stopping to take a photo in front of the notorious “Temple bar.”

Afterward, we walked through St. Stephen’s Green, a public park in Dublin’s city center. I was so impressed by Dublin’s Georgian architecture; I was especially drawn to the doors throughout the city. That night, I got to bed early to prepare for the first day of my internship.

I woke up the next day ready to go and excited. I practically skipped to the train station, grinning ear to ear because I felt like a real adult. I arrived at my internship 20 minutes early and was greeted by my supervisor, who took me on a tour of the office. We sat, discussed my tasks for the week, and got to work immediately. About halfway through the day, my supervisor took me on my break and treated me to lunch. She insisted on buying me my first pack of Irish chips, or crips as they call it. After the break, I continued working. While sitting at my desk, I realized Dublin’s weather can go through four seasons in one day. I watched the sun shine, rain pour, and winds gust from my window all day. After work, I walked to Lidl, a local Irish supermarket, and bought some ingredients for dinner. I took the “39A” bus back to UCD on my way home. I learned this bus is my golden bus because it runs to and from UCD 24/7. I walked up to the second story of the bus to get a good view of the city. While gazing out the window, I watched people walk along the River Liffey and cars pass by on the Quays, aka the streets running north and south of the river. To my surprise, I saw swans drifting on the water! I am thrilled to be in Dublin for the first time and even more excited to have my first internship in such a bustling city. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer holds!

I also fell in love with the Dublin Doors in an array of colors. I am delighted that you were introduced to crisps (potato chips), not to be confused with chips (fries). There are so many different flavors here to taste test! I look forward to more to come adventures.
Thank you for sharing your experiences in such an amazing city!! Especially the pictures! Miss you!!
