Ireland Weekly Blog 1:

Week 1:

Before coming to Ireland, my feelings were a mix of excitement and nervousness. Having never been outside the United States, I had no clear idea of what to expect. This uncertainty created a blend of anticipation and apprehension. However, as my departure approached and school came to an end, my excitement grew stronger with each passing week.

My first day in Dublin was particularly nerve-wracking. The moment I landed, I was greeted by a group of fellow Bucknell students, which helped ease some of my anxiety. The unfamiliarity of the situation presented many unique challenges, making the experience both daunting and exhilarating.

The sense of uncertainty persisted upon our arrival at University College Dublin (UCD). Fortunately, I was able to reconnect with friends and acquaintances who were also part of the trip. This provided a comforting sense of familiarity amidst the new surroundings. Moving into my accommodations at UCD felt much like my initial move to college back home filled with the same uncertainties and excitement of a fresh start.

As soon as I set foot on the Dublin campus, a wave of relief washed over me. Unpacking my two months’ worth of clothes and settling into my new room marked the beginning of my adjustment to this new environment. Organizing my belongings and personalizing my space brought the comfort and stability that was so desperately needed.

The initial nervousness began to go away as I felt myself in the experience. Each interaction and new sight added to my growing excitement. The campus was filled with energy, and the city of Dublin, with its rich culture and history, beckoned to be explored. Despite the challenges and the initial feelings of uncertainty, I felt ready and anticipated for the adventures ahead.

Over the first week, I started to became accustomed to the new environment. Meeting new people, navigating the campus, and exploring the city were all part of this journey. Every day brought something new and exciting, reinforcing my decision to step out of my comfort zone and embrace this opportunity.

In summary, the first week in Ireland was a blend of nervousness and excitement. The initial challenges were met with the support of fellow students and the process of settling in. As I unpacked and began to explore my new surroundings, the excitement for the coming weeks continued to build, setting the stage for an unique experience.
