Braden Beagle: Week 2

Following my blog from last week, this week has been even more fun as I have gotten to know everyone on the trip much better and have also gotten more used to the campus. It’s weird having to walk around such a big campus as I am used to being on Bucknell’s campus which is relatively small compared to the massive size of UCD’s campus. My internship is even considered on campus and it takes about thirty minutes to walk there from the apartment that I am at. Besides being more comfortable with the campus the excursions that we have went on have made this an awesome week.

The first excursion that we went on since my blog last week was our trip to Glendalough. To be honest I wasn’t too excited for the hike in the morning as I am not the biggest outdoors type of person. But after we got there, I realized how peaceful and beautiful the landscapes are in Ireland! There were so many green hills and the view of the lake there seemed to go on forever as the mountains were extremely distant, which was really cool. The walk also just woke me up in general because I was really tired when I got up and oh the bus ride there. After our beautiful hike we have a very long bus ride to Kildare castle. It was extremely cool to see a castle up close that was built so long ago as I wasn’t aware it was built dating back to the thirteenth century. I have never seen something that old before as the United States is a much newer country, which is why it is awesome to be in such a history rich country. After the day on Saturday I was pretty beat, so I took a nap on the bus ride back which was about two hours, so I could rest for the night ahead where my friends and I went out and explored the city some more. On Sunday it was nice to be able to relax a bit as we have had such a busy schedule so far.

The on Monday we had another class that was interesting, as we learned about the history of Guiness and beer in Ireland and then we went to the Irish National History Museum where we learned about the archaeological side of history in Ireland.

The last thing I wanted to touch on his how my internship has been going. It has so far been awesome to see how accounting and finance are like in the real world since I have only learned about them in an academic setting. I have been kept busy at my internship so the days have gone by quickly and I haven’t really felt bored while there. I’m looking forward to see what this next week has to come!
