Wednesday
On Wednesday I met up with the other intern at my job to commute to work together. We got there a little early so we stopped at a coffee shop that our supervisor had recommended. It was really good, and only 2 euros. After work, we had the program welcome dinner at a restaurant called The Little Kitchen, which was delicious. I got the tiger prawn scampi and short ribs. Once we left dinner we explored the area for a bit, looking for live music. However, we were not in a super busy area and it was a Wednesday, so we couldn’t find anything.

Friday
On Friday my internship had me doing something a little different. Up until this point we had mostly been filing, however today we were drafting letters to send to the various hospitals and pharmacies to get information about the cases. After work I met up with another girl from our program on Grafton Street and did some shopping. I went into dunnes for the first time, and was surprised to find that it was pretty similar to a target. After I was done shopping, we went to a really cool hole in the wall pizza place that is super cute.

Saturday
On saturday we went on a trip to glendalough in the wicklow mountains. It is absolutely stunning. Like wow. Ireland has a reputation of being a beautiful country, but if I am being honest, there are definitely times where I forget that while staying in Dublin. So it was really nice to get out into the countryside and see the beautiful views that I often hear about. After we went to glendalough we drove about two hours more to Killkenney. Kilkenny is a small city almost dead center of the country. It is located on a river and is a beautiful town. Oddly enough, it reminds me of Sete, a small fishing village on the Mediterranean in france. It had a lot of tourism, but from the accents I heard it seemed like it was mostly other Europeans. While there we got lunch at a restaurant on the river. The food was good, but I think the raving views on google mostly came from its night time visitors. After lunch we had a tour of Kilkenny castle. I found this tour more interesting than some other castles that I have visited because It was inhabited as a residence, and as such was decorated inside. While it can be cool seeing older castles, I think having decor definitely made this one more interesting. The castle also had a stunning rose garden. I recommended that my parents go to Kilkenny when they come visit because I know my mom will love the garden.

Monday
On Monday, we had a museum tour. The museum was really interesting, and I learned a lot about earlier Irish history. I came into this trip with a decent understanding of more recent Irish history and conflict regarding the English as well as the tensions between catholics and protestants. After the museum I walked around the city a bit. I found myself back on Grafton street (talk about a dangerous place). Long story short I bought a new pair of sneakers, oops!
