Week 3 Blog

My journey to Galway has been nothing short of spectacular. Staying at the hostel proved to be an enriching experience, even with our lively neighbors adding a unique charm; it was all worthwhile. The Cliffs of Moher were an absolute highlight, offering a breathtaking view that left me both thrilled and awestruck as I peered down at the sheer drop.

However, the Aran Islands stole my heart as my favorite part of the trip so far. Exploring the island by bike was a joyous adventure, where the freedom to roam wherever we pleased added an extra layer of excitement. Even when my bike encountered issues with the chain and gears, it didn’t diminish the enjoyment of cruising from one stunning beach to another along the picturesque coastline. An unexpected encounter with a friendly horse during our journey added a delightful and memorable touch to an already unforgettable day.

Kylemore Abbey was another standout experience. The castle’s rich history and impressive architecture were captivating, but it was the Gardens that truly grasped me. The tranquility they offered was a soothing peacefulness, allowing me to immerse myself in Ireland’s natural beauty and escape the bustling pace of city life. The church within Kylemore Abbey left a lasting impression with its magnificent stained glass windows, radiating with deep, vibrant colors that added a sense of reverence to the historic surroundings.

Visiting the sheep farm was another highlight that rivaled the Aran Islands in its impact. Watching the skilled sheepdog herding with precision and grace was both fascinating and impressive, showcasing a unique bond between farmer and animal. Witnessing the farmer expertly shear the sheep with such efficiency and care was a testament to years of expertise. But perhaps the most memorable part was getting to hold the adorable baby sheep. Their soft wool and gentle bleats instantly warmed my heart, creating a special connection that I’ll cherish forever.

This journey to Galway has reaffirmed my love for nature and the peace it brings. Coming from 19 years of bustling city life in New York City, the tranquility and beauty of Ireland’s landscapes have left an indelible mark on me. They have reminded me of the simple joys found in connecting with the natural world, making this trip a truly unforgettable and transformative experience.

Work this past week has been much of the same, however I’ve now been tasked with more social media work which has been exciting. The Euros are on now so I’m getting to learn about the rivalries between countries and I’m learning more about soccer in general. I’m really looking forward to what the rest of these weeks have in store.
