Guys. I’m not kidding when I say this might have been the best week of my life. Let me explain:
Let’s get the nitty gritty out of the way first. Classes, yet again, were phenomenal. It has genuinely been so rewarding to learn something I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to because of my major. I believe that the material we are currently engaging with is applicable to any and every person, regardless of major. We visited the National Museum of Ireland where we saw first-hand some of the most iconic artifacts in Irish history. It was remarkable to see the physical remembrance of my ancestors.
After the first week, the second week of my internship genuinely felt like a breeze…ish. Still trying to get used to everything, but getting more and more comfortable. I made one of my closest friends at work (aka my only coworker) and talked with her about her life and got to know each other more as she showed me the ropes. It has been so special to hear about her life in Ireland the past five years after moving here from Rio, Brazil. Dublin is fascinating in the sense of how incredibly diverse the people are. It feels as though every day I have the opportunity to meet a vast array of people from all over the world. Between writing emails, posting on my company’s social media, and writing the weekly and monthly newsletters, my work days are busy. However, I appreciate the constant entertainment as it makes the work day go faster.
Now, on to the most exciting part of the week and honestly probably my life (just kidding (I’m not kidding)). For the past two years, I have been desperately trying to see my favorite band, Mt. Joy, in concert. Because of schedule conflicts and freak unforeseen circumstances, I have had to sell the tickets to the past two shows I have tried to see them at. So, as soon as I bought tickets for this past Wednesday on presale in November, I knew there was absolutely NO WAY I was missing it. I got to the theatre right when work ended and waited in the queue. I was at the front of the line with a few other Irish locals I had befriended and somehow made it to the front and center of the stage. As you could imagine, I was absolutely losing my mind that I was not only about to see my favorite band after so long, but that I was going to be front row for it too. As expected, the concert was phenomenal. Every song they played was perfect and even managed to befriend the lead guitarist, Sam. Without getting into excruciatingly long detail (and to refrain myself from making this a 1000 word entry), I left the night with Sam’s setlist, two of his picks, a picture together, and getting to meet the band at a pub afterwards. It was genuinely an unforgettable experience and one of the best nights of my life. Counting down the days until I see them again.
Oh! Also we went to Galway!! That was super fun too. Rode some bikes, got some fudge, and very unintentionally ripped my pants at a sheep farm. Eventful to say the least!!
Can’t wait for next week. See you then!
