Ok so this week was definitely more work-intensive than last week, but a good one nonetheless.
This week of classes was awesome! Monday afternoon we visited Jeanie Johnston, which was honestly super fascinating. All of the stories that the tour guide was telling us were amazing, especially about the courageous woman that braved traveling to new lands with her newborn baby in search of better opportunities for her family. Additionally, the fact that not one person died on that ship was remarkable and wildly impressive.
This week was definitely a super busy week at my internship. My only other coworker was on her annual leave, so I was left covering her work and mine. I was definitely overwhelmed this week and found myself not getting a ton of sleep on top of the other work I had to do. My days were absolutely packed and a bit overwhelming. However, on Thursday we hosted our annual summer party which was a smash success. I helped with the set up, drinks, food, and cleanup. It ended up being a late night, but worth it. Tough week, but glad I made it through.
The weekend was super fun though (and filled with a TON of castles). We started the morning off extremely early with a 6:45 departure time. While I got some sleep on the bus, a rest stop coffee was absolutely needed. The first castle was super super cool. While it was nice to walk around the castle, I really enjoyed watching the videos they had in the visitor center. It offered a complete and descriptive history of the castle, formulating a deeper understanding of the place we were walking around. The Blarney Castle was so much fun too! While I feel like it was a biiit of a tourist trap, I still enjoyed my time there. Max and I had a great time talking about Avatar: The Last Airbender (aka the best show ever). Despite my newly found fear of heights, we made it up to the Blarney Stone, kissed it, and made it down. Is it worth the hype? Maybe not. Was it fun? Absolutely. We ended the day at another castle and made it back to campus for dinner. While it was a long and very castley day, it was amazing.
