National Museum of Scotland
This past weekend, I took a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland with a few of my roommates. We knew we only had a few days to see everything, but somehow, we managed to do just that. One of my favorite attractions was the National Museum of Scotland. There were so many interesting exhibits and so much to learn about history and culture there. My favorite part of the museum was the hallway filled with ancient sculptures and artwork. I particularly liked this frame depicting Cain and Abel from the Bible. I also liked the exhibits on technology, fashion, and astronomy. I spent a good hour and a half in the museum looking at all the artwork and exhibits.

Swanston Farm
On our second day in Edinburgh, we decided to take a taxi to Swanston Farm on the outskirts of the city. When we got there, we sat down at the restaurant and had the best burgers. The only downside to the meal was that we chose to sit on the balcony thinking “it wasn’t that cold” and proceeded to get blown over by the wind. After eating, we began our hike up the mountain to see the highland cows. We walked for about three minutes before we spotted the first few. They were so cute! We continued on the path and saw another herd of cows, a bunch of horses, and an incredible view of the city. We could even see Edinburgh Castle from miles away.

Mary’s Milk Bar
I will always remember Mary’s Milk Bar as being the best gelato I ever had. We first heard of this place because Cassidy saw it recommended on her Tik Tok, which was actually super helpful in finding good places to eat. When we got there, we saw a line down the street. Everybody wanted gelato from here, so we figured it was worth the wait. There were a bunch of funky flavors to choose from. I went with one scoop of salted caramel and one scoop of cherries and cream. They were both great, but I have never tasted anything like that cherry flavor. I loved it so much I went back a second time to get a cone of just cherries and cream.

Guinness Storehouse
This past Monday, we finally got to see the Guinness Storehouse. We took a guided tour and were given headphones to listen to the tour guide. He talked about Guinness’s start and how the beer is made today. We even got to taste test a batch. He instructed us to smell it first, then take a big gulp, swirl it around, swallow it, and finally breathe out of your nose. I guess that’s how the official taste testers do it. We then went on the look at all the advertisements Guinness had published over the years. One of my favorites is the one pictured below. After the tour, I spent some time and money in the gift shop, making sure to get my family and I some great souvenirs.
