Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 6

Hey Hey! What a crazy packed week. Let’s begin:

This week was our last class. What a crazy thought. It genuinely doesn’t feel real how quickly time has passed here. It felt like yesterday that we were all in orientation in the auditorium at the UCD Village. Now, we’ve arrived at the crux of all of our academic prowess for the semester. This class was super fun because we got to collaborate with our peers about the Comcast vs. Netflix case study. It was invigorating to hear other people’s perspectives and how they would approach situations differently. We finally got to visit the Guinness Storehouse that afternoon too. I had been waiting for that field trip this whole trip, and I’m so happy that we got such an in-depth explanation of the process of such a massive global enterprise. Along with having my first sip of Guinness, I know it was an experience I will not soon forget. I feel as though everyone in our program has become so close, making this the perfect way to round out our class time here.

Work this week was good! Just the usual gear shift as the new month started: newsletter, updating the July member events, and changing posters around the building. Per usual, my coworker, being the fabulous woman she is, made my day every day. She is the absolute best and I will be so sad to leave her at the end of the summer. I feel like I’m at the point at my job where I feel super comfortable with everybody and have a good idea of everything that is going on. It’s a very nice feeling.

NOW. This week was actually jam packed with concerts. I am a huuuuuuge concert girlie. I love music more than anything and LIVE music is genuinely the best. If there is one thing I will aimlessly spend my money on, it’s concerts. That in mind, Jenna, Madelyn, Lauren and I went to not one, not two, but THREE concerts this week. We started off on Wednesday with Stevie Nicks. What. STEVIE NICKS??!! A living legend. Hearing Landslide and Dreams live was actually the most angelic thing ever. She is such a funny and grounded person, and it was remarkable to see such an amazingly talented person such as herself in the flesh. Our next concert was Lord Huron and Hozier on Friday night. These two artists have been on my concert bucket list for years, and seeing Hozier perform in his home country was an experience like none other. To nobody’s surprise, he was amazing. I sobbed hearing Cherry Wine and Unknown live.I would love to see them both again. The finale to a very sleepless week was Saturday night with Kings of Leon. While I only knew a few of their songs, it was still a fun experience and one that I was happy to share with such good friends.

The weekend ended with a great trip to Belfast which included the Titanic museum, Black Taxi Tours, a rope bridge, and Giant’s Causeway. I have always wanted to visit Giant’s Causeway, but haven’t ever gotten to make it out. Needless to say I was speechless at the sight of such an incredible phenomenon. The rope bridge was also an extraordinary unique way to take in the landscape and all the beauty Northern Ireland had to offer. Additionally, the Titanic museum and Black Taxi Tours were incredibly insightful and informative, expanding my knowledge of Irish history and culture.

While this week was amazing, it was definitely a bit tiring. I’m looking forward to another incredible week (with hopefully more sleep haha)! See you then! 🙂
