Lauren Joyce Week 6

Week 6 already! These last 7 days have definitely been the most eventful thus far and simultaneously some of my favorite of the trip. Starting on last Wednesday, Cassidy Jenna Madelyn and I went to the Stevie Nicks concert. Following a transportation mishap that resulted in a pleasant but expensive FreeNow ride, I arrived on time. Stevie’s demeanor was surprisingly youthful as she told stories and recalled her Fleetwood Mac years between songs. I knew every word which made for some embarrassing videos of my screaming the lyrics without consideration of my volume and lack of singing ability. Afterwards we went out for Cats birthday which was a great way to end the night, speed walking to the bar from 3 Arena. Our concert bender continued on Friday for Hozier with the same group. This time felt more like a music festival, being at Marlay Park which was totally packed and had tons of food trucks. I loved looking at everyone’s outfits too, lots of boho dresses and some cowboy boots. Even though it was raining on and off, at same time though the mountains and countryside in the background really added to the vibe. Would that I, Cherry Wine and Work Song were all soo good. The next day we went to Kings of Leon that was just as fun. Again, it was at the same park, equally as packed. I probably knew the fewest songs for this day but regardless another really great experience. On Sunday we left for Belfast in Northern Ireland. The drive went by quickly and we then went to the Titanic Museum. The extent of my knowledge revolved around the movie and so this was a super interesting visit for me. Afterwards we went into the city and I went into what is probably the best Zara I’ve ever been to. I seriously could have tried on half the store. We ate some mediocre Chinese (?) food and went to the hotel. After absolutely crashing and being horizontal for a few hours we went out to dinner. Got a pizza for 6 pounds, which was reflected in the quality but I’m not picky. Will have to visit here because the drinks were dirt cheap. We met up with a larger group then to a bar and then later on ate some fire pizza. Then the next day on the road we went to Ballycastle which was a crazy view. The water was somehow so so clear. We then crossed the bridge, equally as stunning. I’d love to have a picnic on that small little grassy island. It’ll be hard to limit myself to just a few pictures for this day. We headed to Giant’s Causeway which is made up of basalt columns. The long drive back I just listened to music and looked out the window, lots of the rolling hills vaguely resembling PA. The last work week was probably the busiest yet I’ve had, partially because the other intern was traveling but also because I have just learned more and am connected to multiple long term projects. Just finished up the Aveeno and OGX press packs and have written about new menus, bridal, and a hotel’s spa. I’d rather be busy than twiddling my thumbs though, especially when it comes to feeling like I am contributing to the team.
