Switching Things Up

A routine allows for structure. I am an avid fan of setting routines. The routines I established allow for balance and prosperity in my life. However, in some cases, there needs to be room for exploration. It is human nature to gravitate more towards comfortability. People feel safe in a comfortable environment. True growth occurs when one becomes comfortable with being uncomfortable. In my opinion, “a routine”, is ambiguous. Are people repeating habits because it is a proven formula for success or because they fear the unknown?
Dublin is a massive city filled with endless opportunities. With so many places to see, why go to the same spot twice? I crave change. Without stimulation from change, I become bored. This was the sole reason why I decided to alter my morning commute. In the past, I took the 47A to work. It was the quickest and most efficient journey to Ringsend. While in Ireland, walking has become one of my favorite hobbies. I find this activity to be mentally refreshing, especially in the mornings. My new route, via the 46A takes me near Wilton Terrace. Instead of being a few steps from my office, I am now a thirty five minute walk. During my walks to work, I try and stop at a new coffee shop each morning. Baked goods are my kryptonite. More specifically, scones. Il Valentino, a bakery I pass by, sells homemade blueberry, raspberry, and raisin scones with a side of butter and jam. Without altering my morning routine, I never would have stumbled upon this hidden gem.

Mikey’s 21st!

The weekend kicked off a day early with the celebration of my fellow intern Mikey’s 21st birthday Thursday night. My coworkers and I took off early to grab a pint at the Oarsmen. The celebration ended up running a little later than expected. Nevertheless, I enjoyed spending time with my company outside the office. It makes me extremely upset that I have about one week of work left with Sunstone. The past two summers, I worked for a defense contracting company. Even though I have only worked with Sunstone for seven weeks, I feel more closer to my coworkers here than during the two years spent in Maryland. Shared experiences outside work allowed me realize how much people at Sunstone care about each other. They understand that everyone has a role in order for business to prosper.
¡Viva España! There Goin Home, There Goin Home, England’s Goin Home!

In the 2024 Euro final held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Spain triumphed over England with a 2-1 victory. Nico Williams opened the scoring for Spain early in the second half, but England quickly responded with Cole Palmer’s record-setting fastest substitute goal in Euro history. The match was decided in the final minutes when Mikel Oyarzabal scored, securing Spain their fourth European Championship title. Some other students on the trip and I journeyed to BrewDog, a sports bar/brewery by the Grand Canal Dock, to view the match.
The Last Monday Trip

Our final Monday field trip was to Howth. Historically, Howth has been an active fishing port. Its harbor is bustling with fishing vessels that supply fresh seafood to local markets and restaurants. Before having time to explore the town on our own, our class participated in a nature walking tour: The Howth Cliff Walk. This scenic walking trail offered breathtaking views of the rugged coastline, the Irish Sea, and Dublin Bay.
