Morgan Week 8 In Dublin- Paris edition

Friday 7/19

This friday, I left Dublin to go to Paris. My best friend from home is living in Paris for the summer doing research. So, during the free weekend, I decided to go and visit her. I have always wanted to see Paris, and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to see the city right before the olympic games started. I got in around 9, so I didn’t have much time to do anything besides get to her apartment.

Saturday 7/20

On our first full day, we went to musee de orsay. This museum is my friends favorite in Paris: she prefers it over the Louvre. I loived this museum. I recognized a lot more paintings than I thought I would, including the birth of Venus, that one painting of a deformed cat, and many of Monet and Van Goghs works. The museum also had a VR experience on impressionism set up. You would walk around, and would hear the stories of many of the painters, while also getting to see a computerize version of the city. After the Museum, I went to the arc de triomphe. I wanted to run across the road to get to it, but my friend insisted upon using the tunnel. The rest of the day we just meandered around the city, did some shopping, and got dinner.

Sunday 7/21

Sunday was a doozy. We went to versailles this day. The palace was gorgeous, and the gardens were even bigger and prettier than I expected. We brough supplies for lunch, and had a picnic in the public park just outside of the park. After versailles, we went back to the city and got crepes for dinner. Then, we went to one of the few areas that you could get a clear view of the Eiffel tower to watch it sparkle in the night. It was truly so gorgeous and something I will never forget.

Monday 7/22

My last day in Paris 🙁 On monday, we had tickets to visit a curch within the perimeter of areas closed off for the Olymics. This meant, we got a qr code that would allow us into the area, which was really nice. It meant I could get all the way to the seine, and see Notre Dam up close. After that, we began our grand walking tour. On our way through the city, we ran into a large group of Triathletes that Had just gotten out of the river, which was crazy. We then went on to the art district. I have been trying to get pieces of art from every place I visit to create a wall with decor when I get back. I found an absolutely amazing painting that I love. We also went and looked at the tower in the day, this time from a view point where I could see the rings. After a quick visit to the Luxembourg gardens and some wine and people watching, It was time for me to go back to UCD.
