Bella Schraa Dublin Week 2

After completing my first week in Dublin, I started to feel like I was adjusting well. I was exploring a beautiful city, making amazing friends, and was gaining a lot of knowledge within my internship. I no longer woke up with any nerves but rather excitement to go about my day in Dublin.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to London, England for the weekend to watch a baseball game. This opportunity allowed me to discover how easy it is to get around not just in Ireland but around the United Kingdom/Europe. As long as I had my passport with me, I could easily get to a different country in a matter of an hour flight. Some of the other Bucknell students in this program and I decided to take a free weekend and go to a Phillies vs Mets game at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in London. I am so grateful for this as not only was I able to explore a new city but I was also able to do it with the girls whom I have become tremendously close with within the span of a week.

Lauren, Cat, Sam, Nicole, and I made our way Saturday afternoon to the airport where we would take an hour flight to London. When we arrived, there was no customs or security we had to go through and just walked right out of the airport and headed to the game. This was quite an interesting experience since at home any sort of travel especially when arriving in the United States takes hours when having to stand in a line at customs takes another couple hours. This travel was super easy time wise and was also way more affordable. My ticket was around 30 euros to get from Dublin to London. This pricing was shocking as once again when comparing it to the United States, it was way more affordable. 30 euros for a round trip flight was the cheapest flight I had ever purchased.

I had such an amazing experience going to London this past weekend and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to do so. This trip helped me understand how easy it is to get around in Europe/UK along with how affordable it is. I really admire this as I have always loved traveling; seeing how easy and affordable it was made me look forward to hopefully being able to travel more around Europe in the future. I had always known that Europe/UK was known for easy travel but I now can truly believe it. I am so grateful for this experience and the ability to explore not just within Dublin, but London as well in which I was exposed once again to a different culture outside the United States.
