My funds are dwindling and my entire digestive system could use a week long juice cleanse. Regardless of the fact I’m in desperate need of a GI, I’ve never had so much fun in my life. I spent this past week, both on my own and with friends, doing more exploring than I think I have this entire trip (which is saying a lot).
My week began with a solo sushi date immediately followed by hot yoga and a run around campus. What a way to kick off the week, right?! All jokes aside, I loved getting to reset on Tuesday with sashimi, childs pose, and a looong outdoor run with some good tunes.

Man who hopped in my post-yoga selfie and sushi!
The next day was when things really started to pickup. Some of my colleagues and I walked over to The Swift after work to grab some quick drinks. We wanted to go out and celebrate completing how successful our first month here has been. Eli, one of the other interns and my closest friend and work, is also staying on the UCD campus this summer; he and I actually met on the bus the very first night we were in Dublin. We spend our hour-long evening commutes getting to know one another and chatting about random things.

Then, Thursday came around and it was time to attend The Irish House Party. I came directly from work, dressed to the nines and ready for a show. Between the music, tap dancing, and Hannah hanging with us during dinner I would say I was thoroughly entertained. I left with a stomach full of food that I didn’t have to pay for and a head filled with Irish music that is now permanently stuck there.

My boss gave us all the day off of work on Friday so I took it upon myself to hit the gym early and spend the rest of the day running around the city. One of my favorite things to do is explore on my own. There’s something so wonderful about being lost in a new place (lost is a loose term but you get the point). The day of adventures continued when others came and joined me downtown for drinks and some food. We settled in at Bad Bob’s, a pub with great food drinks, and live music seven days a week! After we closed our tabs at Bad Bob’s, Cat was dying for a slice of pizza. Doom Slice was calling her name and off we went.

Bad Bob’s and DOOOOOM!! No clue why Jack is blue, though…
Saturday was a bit of a bust so I don’t have much to say other than you’re a loser, Jose. For context, Saturday was supposed to be the day our program went and played Gaelic Games. Unfortunately for me and Nicole that wasn’t the case. As we arrived at the location and hopped off the bus, Nicole began frantically looking around on the ground. Her phone had fallen from her pocket and was either still on the bus or somewhere on the rain covered ground below us… or so we thought. She and I spent the next hour attempting to follow its location on Find My iPhone. By the time we decided to throw in the towel we were cold, wet, and defeated. Later that day we came to realize that the name of Nicole’s phone on Find My had been changed from “Nicole’s iPhone” to “Jose’s iPhone”. It was then that we realized her phone had not fallen but had, in fact, been stolen.
As crummy as Saturday’s events were, Sunday made up for it. I started the day pretty early and hit the gym with Bella for a light workout before we hit the town. She and I proceeded to roam all around the city, making a second stop of the week at Doom Slice, running errands at Lidl and Boots, and popping into the Ink Factory for a fun surprise.

More Doom but this time w/ Bella!
Monday came around and it was finally time for the Guinness Storehouse! Speaking as someone who’s technically allergic to gluten, Guinness is phenomenal. We were taught how to sip it and really enjoy the flavor in addition to learning about Guinness’ rich history and the brewing process. Of course, we closed out our visit at the rooftop bar where I tried my very first Guinness and unsuccessfully attempted to split the G. The stomach ache that ensued post-sip was not ideal so I left soon after.

Can’t wait to see what next week brings!! Slainte 🙂
This week was filled with so much! And don’t get me started on the doom slice… BEST pizza in Dublin (and one that your digestive system can handle). Love living my Dublin life with my abroad bestie. Slainte!
Sam, I really enjoyed reading your blog and seeing what you’re up to. The first sentence made me laugh, but really I hope your stomach starts to feel better. I love all the pictures you include in your blogs and seeing all of your fun adventures!!
