As I near the end of my trip to Dublin, I find myself doing a lot of personal reflection. I have definitely enjoyed my time here, but I think it is also important to be honest and say that there were things I didn’t love either. A common thing my friends and I have been doing while eating dinner together is our rose, bud, and thorn of the day. Your rose is your favorite part of the day. Your bus is something you are looking forward to in the future. And your thorn is the worst or least favorite thing about the day. Your rose bud and thorn can be feelings or an experience. In this blog post I will be talking about my Rose, Bud, and Thorn of my experience thus far.
Rose:
My rose if the trip is hands down how close I got with the others that came on the trip. I talk about them in almost every blog post, but I really have made some amazing friends while here in Ireland. We have basically been attached at the hip for the past seven weeks and I have enjoyed every day of it. Coming into this trip, I did not really know anyone, and was scared it was going to be difficult to make friends, but it is safe to say that I made some of my best friends. I am so happy that I got to experience this trip and chapter of my life with them by my side, and I honestly would not have wanted it any other way.
Bud:
My bud, or something that I am looking forward to is my mom and sister coming to visit. I got to see them briefly this morning when they flew into Dublin airport. This is the longest I have ever gone without seeing them, and it has been very difficult at times. I am so excited to show them around Dublin and tell them all about my time here. While they are here we are taking the free weekend to go to London, which is where my mom studied abroad, which feels like a full circle moment. I cannot wait to take this week to experience amazing things with them.
Thorn:
While this whole trip has been educational and informative, I was not the biggest fan of having to go to a 9-5 job from Tuesday to Friday, especially since it was unpaid. There was a lot that I took from this experience though. I got to experience the real work world and sharpened my knowledge in excel and mortgages. I am not a morning person so having to wake up early is my thorn, because I loved the job and the people I worked with.

Rose of my day yesterday- FT with my bestie Frank

John Rodgers and I found some cows. John liked to moo at them.

This is a picture of Joe Wilck’s daughter, Hannah, looking absolutely defeated, just like the rest of us.
