Last week before we head home!
This last free weekend, I felt like I didn’t have it in me to visit a European country because this program has shown me so much about Ireland. However, this came with the price of being exhausted, and with school starting soon, I thought I needed a weekend off for myself. I chose to stay in Dublin and do a lot of activities that I didn’t get to do in the past seven weeks due to a packed schedule.
I didn’t want to stress myself out too much by going to many places every day, so I spread everything out daily to get the most out of my experience! On Friday, I went into the city to do a lot of last-minute shopping because I had planned to wrap up everything and pack up this whole week. Therefore, I went around the town and purchased many things to bring back home for my family and friends!
On Saturday, I went to Dundrum Mall to see something new besides the central part of the city. I could walk around and look at clothes, which genuinely shocked me of how big the Dundrum Mall is. They have a Tesco superstore on their top floor, which is a giant inside a mall. However, it took up little to no space in the mall, which genuinely blew my mind to see how big the entire place was. It took me many hours to get through everything, given how big and how many people go there. I again did some last-minute shopping for necessary stuff, and I’m spoiled by how big and nice the malls are here.
On Sunday, I went to the farmer’s market in Ireland for probably the last time in a while! I looked around, unsure what to get, but I knew I loved the pastry here in Ireland! Therefore, I stopped by and got a chocolate twist from a local vendor! It was very fresh and delicious and huge! After the farmer’s market, I stopped by the Temple Bar area since I didn’t know when the next time I’d be back would be. The Temple bar area is beautiful, and the nearby restaurants serve delicious food. And I am excited to take my last visit there.

Monday comes around, and I would like to know what I would do today. I felt like Bucknell had allowed me to see the entire Ireland, so I didn’t know what else I was missing. Doing some quick Google searching, I realized I hadn’t visited the National Museum of Ireland yet! We went to one, but not the rest, so I wanted to pay for my visit. I went to the National Botanic Gardens and National Museum of Ireland-Decorative Arts & History, which was both beautiful and free entry. It wasn’t that packed, and I could walk around freely and take pictures while enjoying nature. I will attach a bunch of photos from the garden because it was just beautiful!

My biggest takeaway this week and this entire program is how much support and knowledge I gained through my internship. Due to the nature of my internship, they go on holiday every day for two weeks, making today their banquet lunch together as a thank you and goodbye to everyone until they return. This also is my last day, where I got to eat my last lunch with these people who mean the world to me. I will be forever grateful for this experience, and that career will forever have a special place in my heart.
