As my time to Dublin comes to an end, I’m very happy to say that this has been my favorite week on the trip so far. Over our free weekend this past week some of my friends on the trip and I took a few day trip to Amsterdam. I have honestly been looking forward to this trip so much since the moment we planned it about a month ago. We left extremely early in the morning and had to be up at 3am to catch our flight so I actually didn’t even go to bed that night as I thought it would just make it harder to wake up for the flight. We ended up making it to the airport and had time to get food and then we were on the flight which actually wasn’t bad at all as it was only about an hour and a half. After getting there we go a hostel which was a room of four and Jack, John, Jackson and I roomed together there.
The first thing we did when we get there was walk around the city for a bit but we all wanted to take naps before the night as we were all exhausted as we didn’t get sleep the night before. After our naps we had a canal tour lined up for 7pm which was extremely fun and honestly might have been my favorite part of the trip. Going through the canal was awesome as we got to see a lot of the city of Amsterdam and got to see all of the beautiful architecture. Also, the sun was shining and it was just nice weather in general which made the tour even more enjoyable. After the canal ride we went and got some food and we kind of just explored the city for a few more hours but didn’t stay out too late as we were all still pretty tired from traveling in the morning. The next day we went to an all you can eat pancake boat that just floated around while we ate unlimited Dutch pancakes which were super good. Then the rest of the day and night we just wandered the city and got a lot of good food. Then the last thing we did on the next day, which was the last full day we were there was do the Heineken tour. It was an extremely cool tour that had a lot of visuals and was also informative about the history behind Heineken.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed this trip to Amsterdam and my time in Dublin so much. It has been so nice to meet so many great people and make friends that I will get to see back on campus! Thank you for everything Dublin!
