Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 7

Hiya! This week wasn’t as interesting as the other ones, but a good one nonetheless. Let’s get into it:  After such a fun weekend in Belfast, I was definitely a little reluctant to start the work week again. This week we hosted a ton of super fun events, one of which included a new event called Morsels & Meaning with one of our members Sula. Sula is such a kind soul and I light up whenever I see her. She prepared five traditional Palestinian dishes which were all INCREDIBLE. They are super easy to make and extremely nutritious. Sula did […]

Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 6

Hey Hey! What a crazy packed week. Let’s begin:  This week was our last class. What a crazy thought. It genuinely doesn’t feel real how quickly time has passed here. It felt like yesterday that we were all in orientation in the auditorium at the UCD Village. Now, we’ve arrived at the crux of all of our academic prowess for the semester. This class was super fun because we got to collaborate with our peers about the Comcast vs. Netflix case study. It was invigorating to hear other people’s perspectives and how they would approach situations differently. We finally got […]

Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 5

Hiya!! This week was soooooo much fun. Did a bit of work and even went to a WHOLE DIFFERENT COUNTRY (what??!!). Let’s discuss.  Per usual, class was fabulous. The discussions were rich and engaging, with each student providing thoughtful contributions to the subjects at hand. It was the perfect start to the day before heading to Kilmainham Gaol in the afternoon. Despite hearing of this before, I had never actually learned anything significant about it. The tour was surprising and engaging. We walked through the prison as our tour guide recounted tales of the prisoners past, many of which had […]

Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 4

Ok so this week was definitely more work-intensive than last week, but a good one nonetheless.  This week of classes was awesome! Monday afternoon we visited Jeanie Johnston, which was honestly super fascinating. All of the stories that the tour guide was telling us were amazing, especially about the courageous woman that braved traveling to new lands with her newborn baby in search of better opportunities for her family. Additionally, the fact that not one person died on that ship was remarkable and wildly impressive.  This week was definitely a super busy week at my internship. My only other coworker […]

Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 3

Guys. I’m not kidding when I say this might have been the best week of my life. Let me explain:  Let’s get the nitty gritty out of the way first. Classes, yet again, were phenomenal. It has genuinely been so rewarding to learn something I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to because of my major. I believe that the material we are currently engaging with is applicable to any and every person, regardless of major. We visited the National Museum of Ireland where we saw first-hand some of the most iconic artifacts in Irish history. It was remarkable to see […]

Cassidy Cook: Ireland Week 2

What. A. Week! Not going to lie, it was definitely a long one, but very rewarding.  Started off with our first day of classes. Seeing as how I intend to gear my major towards international business, I loved the fresh insight into the logistics of business operation and management. The class was informative and engaging, as Professor Wilke included personal anecdotes that kept the room engaged. Later that day, we made our way to the EPIC (Irish Emigration) Museum. This field trip held a special significance to me as I was able to obtain a special insight into what my […]
