Cole Vandevanter week 8 blog

It is really hard to believe that this is my final blog post, which means that this is also my final week in Dublin. While this last week has been filled with trying to try as many new places around the city as possible, as well as going to some of my favorite spots for the last time, this past weekend was spent in the sunny capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. We got up incredibly early on Friday morning to get to the airport in time for our flight at six in the morning, but I cannot complain about the […]

Cole Vandevanter Week 7 blog

In one of my earlier blogs, I mentioned how I wanted to try fish and chips from a more traditional takeaway spot to compare to the fancier preparation I had at a restaurant during one of our first weekend trips to the West Coast of Ireland. So when we were in Howth, a coastal town just a short tram ride north of Dublin City center that is famous for it’s fish and chips, I knew I had to try again. Cole Vandevanter Week 6 Blog

It is crazy to think about how little time we have left in Ireland, and although the time has gone by so fast, when looking back on what we have done over the course of the trip it has felt like an entire summer, not just a little more than a month.  Something new that I experienced this past week was getting a tattoo. I had thought about getting one for a while, and I figured that getting one while I’m here would be a great way to remember the trip, and also to go to a more reputable tattoo […]

Cole Vandevanter Week 5 Blog

This past week was another great week here in Dublin started off on Thursday with the Irish house party. We had a pretty good dinner and then we went into the basement for an incredible traditional, Irish folk music performance. It was pretty cool to Irish instruments like the uilleann pipes, the harp, and the bodrán. All of the songs were all really fun, and there was also Irish dancing, which was pretty cool (and nice that we don’t have to go and wait in the massive lines outside of Riverdance in downtown Dublin) The highlight of my week started […]

Cole Vandevanter Week 4 Blog

After nearly a month here in Dublin, I feel as if I have started to really become accustomed to life abroad. I feel like I am starting to get a good feel of the city, as well as how to navigate around. I found my favorite grocery store, SuperValu, which is a short bus ride east to the coastal town of Blackrock. One thing that I have been focusing a lot on recently is cooking for myself, and also cooking solid meals. I have tried to incorporate some more vegetables in my diet, and have gotten pretty good at incorporating […]
