Jack Codding – Ireland Week 8

As I have gone into my final week of the Bucknell in Dublin trip, I have mostly focused on friendships this last week. This past weekend, I and fellow students on the trip traveled over to Amsterdam for our free weekend. I think that this was a great experience as it was a needed break from Dublin but also a chance to explore another culture with the friends I have made here in Dublin. Now that I have completed my internship, I have time to soak in our final few days and spend valuable time with my friends. I am […]

Jack Codding – Ireland Week 7

For week 7 we had trips that were different from our usual itinerary. For this week’s trips, we mostly went on hikes and saw the scenic areas of Ireland. We hiked around the Hill of Uisneach which is considered to be very connected to mythology and historical significance. The hill is also associated with the legendary figure Eochaid Airem and is one of the royal sites of Gaelic Ireland. The hill also holds ceremonial value to the Irish as it was used as a place to for the Uisneach Fire Festival was held. This fire was used to mark the […]

Jack Codding Ireland – Week 6

This past week we took a weekend trip over to Belfast Ireland. On this trip I learned about many important cultural landmarks for the Irish people. These places include the Titanic Museum, Giants Causeway and the taxi tour we attended. While visiting the site of the Titanic being built I learned about how the RMS Titanic was constructed, how it was launched, the personal stories, and viewing of artifacts off the ship. I learned that it took 3 years to fully construct the titanic and that it costed around 7.5 Million Euros, which today would be around 400 million. The […]

Jack Codding Ireland – Week 5

This week we had some very rememberable trips such as Irish House Party, Gaelic games, and the Guinness factory. The Irish House Party started with a 3-course meal which was prepared perfectly. After a nice long meal everyone proceeded to the lower level of the restaurant. Here they had chairs spread out throughout the room and a big stage in the middle. At first the stage was empty and people filing in focused on getting drinks from the bar in the corner, but as soon as the musicians and dancer appeared on stage everyone’s attention shifted. Before this, I had […]

Jack Codding – Week 4 Blog

For this week, I want to write about the trip that I took this week for my internship. After being told that I was going to Belfast on my trip Tuesday, I instead went to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour. Being an avid fan of the show, I was delighted at this surprise. Upon walking into the studio tour I was blown away. Two other interns were on the trip as well, and as we walked into the studio two employees came up to us to tell us we had a private tour. The was very helpful since it […]

Jack Codding – Week 3 Ireland Blog

After a long and tiring weekend traveling to the Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Inishmore I have a lot to write about. Seeing the Cliffs of Moher again allowed me a different appreciation for nature and the beauty that Ireland has to offer. Although I am focusing specifically on Cliffs of Moher, Galway, and Inishmore, all the places we went to had their own unique beauty. Compared to the first time I went to the cliffs it was bright skies and I decided to walk a different path to admire a different perspective of the cliffs. While riding bikes at the […]
