Madelyn’s Week 4 Blog

Stag’s Head Pub On Thursday night, we went to the Stag’s Head Pub to listen to some Irish folklore. The storyteller talked about myths and legends depicting powerful fairy creatures. These creatures were used in stories years ago to explain the unexplainable. After the storytelling session, we walked to the Merchant’s Arch located right along the Liffey River. We all got to eat a three-course dinner together. I ordered stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and a salad, and it was delicious. The apple crumble I got for dessert was the best part. Madelyn’s Week 3 Blog

The Cliffs of Moher Our second weekend trip was to the west coast of Ireland, specifically Galway. It only took us about two and half hours to travel to the complete opposite side of the country, which came as a shock to me. Perhaps my favorite attraction on the west coast was the Cliffs of Moher. Madelyn’s Week 2 Blog

Kilkenny Castle Our first weekend excursion in Ireland consisted of a day trip to Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough, and finally Kilkenny Castle. Once we arrived in Kilkenny, I took some time to explore the town and took in all the beautiful sights. We went to a bookstore, saw St. Mary’s Cathedral, and took photos of the statue of St. Patrick. Perhaps the most beautiful was the castle that was once inhabited by the Butler family. Inside the castle were countless relics of the past including lavish dining sets, oil portraits, pre-historic deer mounts, tapestries, and even a view overlooking the garden. […]

Madelyn’s Week 1 Blog

Beacon Hospital Perhaps the most important reason I decided to apply to the Bucknell in Dublin study abroad program was the internship experience I would gain as a result. I obtained an internship at Beacon Hospital in the Sandyford Business District where I will be working on a project regarding the effective transfer of patients and patient information.
