Last week before we head home! This last free weekend, I felt like I didn’t have it in me to visit a European country because this program has shown me so much about Ireland. However, this came with the price of being exhausted, and with school starting soon, I thought I needed a weekend off for myself. I chose to stay in Dublin and do a lot of activities that I didn’t get to do in the past seven weeks due to a packed schedule. I didn’t want to stress myself out too much by going to many places every […]
I have never been a hiking person, but being in Ireland has changed my perspective on hiking. Going back to our first group event in Ireland, when we visited the EPIC Museum, one of the first things we learned about was the Hill of Tara and the Stone of Destiny through a model in the museum. This week, we were able to see the Hill of Tara in person and get a better view of all the individual pieces of the hill. We also got to touch the Stone of Destiny! We learned that the Scottish ruined it because they […]
Three Countries in 24 hours! This weekend, my friends and I took a trip to Scotland! It was an early flight, and we had to catch the bus at 3:30 AM and wait a few hours at the airport. I noticed how diverse the passports at the airport were, where everyone seemed to have a passport of a different color, indicating their citizenship in a different country. We got on the plane, and I thought it’d be a semi-long flight since I’m so used to a minimum of 2 hours, but it turns out the flight landed early, and it […]
Halfway through the program! On Thursday, we attended an Irish House Party where we ate dinner and enjoyed live music. I’m usually not a fan of live music, but the house party was one of a kind. I enjoyed how our host kept the crowd engaged and ensured we weren’t bored between each song. Their songs included many Irish traditional instruments that added a different touch to the music. It will be a memorable experience because when else will you experience an Irish house party? I’m happy we could experience this, and it will be one of my favorite things […]
This week’s highlight is making cultural dishes with anything I can find. It is not something I expected myself to be doing, but it stood out to me. My internship did not require me to go in for work on Friday, so I went to the mall with Stella and stopped by Tesco for some groceries. I was craving Cheung fun then, but because it was impossible to find the ingredients for the actual thing, I decided to substitute everything for what I had. It was a bold decision because it could have turned out to be disgusting or fantastic. […]
