Week 7 Ireland

This past week, I had an incredible cultural adventure, visiting the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew Passage Tomb, and the Hill of Uisneach. Each site provided a unique glimpse into Ireland’s rich pre-Christian past, making this trip unforgettable. If you ever get the chance to go, I can’t recommend it enough. Our journey began at the Hill of Tara, the ancient seat of Ireland’s High Kings. This serene and historic site was a powerful introduction to the region’s storied history. Walking through the ancient earthworks and taking in the panoramic views was simply awe-inspiring. Next, we explored Trim Castle, […]

Aliyah Cohen: Ireland Week #7

On Saturday, our Bucknell group traveled around the Celtic Boyne Valley, where we visited the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew Passage Tomb, and the Hill of Uisneach. The Hill of Tara dates back to the Stone Age and was once used as an ancient ceremonial and burial site. The site also used to be the seat of the High Kings of Ireland. The High King was chosen by the “Stone of Destiny” (Lia Fáil). Legend has it that the stone will let out a roar when touched by the rightful King of Tara. Additionally, we learned that from the […]

Ireland’s Nature!

I have never been a hiking person, but being in Ireland has changed my perspective on hiking.  Going back to our first group event in Ireland, when we visited the EPIC Museum, one of the first things we learned about was the Hill of Tara and the Stone of Destiny through a model in the museum. This week, we were able to see the Hill of Tara in person and get a better view of all the individual pieces of the hill. We also got to touch the Stone of Destiny! We learned that the Scottish ruined it because they […]

Cole Vandevanter Week 7 blog

In one of my earlier blogs, I mentioned how I wanted to try fish and chips from a more traditional takeaway spot to compare to the fancier preparation I had at a restaurant during one of our first weekend trips to the West Coast of Ireland. So when we were in Howth, a coastal town just a short tram ride north of Dublin City center that is famous for it’s fish and chips, I knew I had to try again. Unfortunately, this second iteration of fish and chips was for the birds… literally. After picking up a steaming box of […]

Week 7 Lauren Joyce

With just a few fleeting weeks to go, I’m really trying to savor everything and check off some more boxes. Starting last Friday, I’ve been trying to go out to more places throughout the city in attempt to prevent consistency. On Saturday we first went to the Hill of Tara which reminded me of Pennslyvania with its rolling hills and generally flat landscape. Later on we went to Trim Casle which was impressive as others we’ve seen. We then went into town and Cassidy and I, fiends for a chai latte, searched about 10 different spots until our craving was […]

Catherine Dineen: Week 7 (DONT MAKE ME LEAVE!)

This past week, I realized that our seemingly endless stay in Dublin is drawing to a close. With just ten days left in our program, and four of those days to be spent in Amsterdam, we only have six days left in this vibrant city. Six days to cherish our remaining time together and soak in every moment. While I miss my family and friends, I find myself wishing I could go back to the day I landed and relive every experience and emotion all over again. My girls! Silly Squirrel This trip has been a profound learning experience. From […]
